Paris : French Economy and Finances Minister Christine Lagarde assured Wednesday that France is going moderately well financially and resists international financial uncertainty.
In a press round, Lagarde stated the French economic growth had a reasonable revision to lowering between 1.7 and 2 percent for 2008, compared to 2.25 percent initially calculated.
She admitted the French public deficit in 2007 will be a little over 2.4 percent of the French Gross Domestic Product, so the government should take measures to avoid this phenomenon comes up once again in 2008.
She said the French administration keeps looking at a balance of public finances up to 2012, for a progressive rationalization.
Lagarde pointed out that the French economy wisely handles the ravages of the international financial crisis, and may feel slightly optimistic if the good winds coming from 2007 are still blowing in 2008.
