Kuwait : Under the auspicious of His Highness the Primer Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah, the 5th Session of the Arab Media Forum, themed “Positive media dialogue between East and West,” will kick off here on April 6.

Secretary General of the Arab Media Forum Madhi Al-Khamees told KUNA on Saturday that a number of politicians, Arab and foreign media figures will participate in the two-day session, namely the Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa.

He said President of the International Federation of Journalists, Aden White and Reporters Without Borders Secretary General Robert Menard will be among the participants.

Senior journalists as well as editors-in-chief of the most prominent Arab and foreign newspapers will also attend the event.

The meeting will focus on the importance of positive dialogue between the East and the West, and includes an open discussion with the Arab League secretary general.

The forum also aims at upgrading the Arab role in developing dialogue mechanisms to shape and form a new method for the Arab media not only as consumers but also as vital participants in planning regional and Arab media strategies.

Al-Khamees said that there would be 11 major sessions in the upcoming gathering where the Arab media creativity prizewinners will be honoured for their contributions to pushing Arab media forward in all fields.

The forum will also witness the issuance of Arab media encyclopaedia containing all information about Arab media figures and their history since the birth of the Arab press, noting that technological and other media exhibitions from public and private sectors will also take part in the event.

Over 500 invitations were addressed to Arab and foreign journalists and media figures to participate in the event.

The Arab Media Forum was established in 2003 to create a strategy for Arab media that eliminated their disputes and boosted common grounds to face external dangers against the Arab nation.
