Brussels : The European Commission (EC) is inviting proposals for the establishment of a European Business and Technology Centre in New Delhi.
The aim of the project is to improve links between European and Indian businesses and with Science and Technology (ST) stakeholders involving business, industry and public bodies.
Considering the rapid economic growth in India, it is imperative for the EU to encourage partnerships, exchanges and joint ventures among the EU and India to tap the dynamic developments in the Indian economy, noted an EC statement.
The executive body of the 27-member European Union will contribute 6.6 million euro to the project, representing 80 % of the cost. The successful Applicant will have to provide 20 % of the cost.
A second phase of the project with further funding is also envisaged. More centres may be opened up in the future in other cities of India as the project develops.
Applicants must be legal persons and be nationals of a member state of the European Union .
The EC will organise an information session on the project for all interested parties in Brussels on Thursday, May 8.
