Mumbai : The Indian equities market continued to trade in green in early afternoon trade Friday despite rise in inflation. Inflation for the week ended April 19 rose to 7.57 percent against 7.33 percent the week before. Except metal, all sectoral indices were in green.
At 12.30 p.m., the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 234.95 points or 1.36 percent to 17,522.26. Sensex hit a high of 17,621.24 in early trade. At day’s low, it touched 17,445.93 points.
At the same time, the broader based S&P CNX Nifty was up by 51.15 points or 0.99 percent at 5,217.05.
The market breadth was strong on BSE; 1,510 shares advanced as compared to 999 that declined, 76 remained unchanged.
