Kabul : Managing Director of the World Bank Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is currently visiting Afghanistan to discuss preparations for the upcoming Paris Conference with Afghan authorities.
The aim of her visit is to get first-hand information about the impact of World Bank’s operations in the landlocked country, said the World Bank external affairs officer, Abdul Rauf Zia. During her visit, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala will meet officials of the Afghan government, including President Hamid Karzai, as well as pay a visit to a number of World Bank-financed projects outside the central capital Kabul.
She will be leading the World Bank delegation at the upcoming Paris Conference on June 12.
The World Bank official will leave Afghanistan after completing her visit on June 3.
