Kolkata : West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee Thursday asked the army to stage a flag march in Siliguri in West Bengal’s Darjeeling district, rocked by violence during the ongoing agitation by the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha for more powers to the regional council.
“I had a talk with the army officials here and asked them to stage a flag march in Siliguri and its adjacent areas. The army will be deployed there as early as possible,” Bhattacharjee told reporters at State Secretariat Writers’ Building here.
“I request all people, both in the hills and plains, not to get involved in any sort of violent or political unrest,” he said.
