India Opposes Actions against Iran

By Prensa Latina,

New Delhi : India reiterated Monday its opposition to any military action against Iran, after information was released that the US demanded Israel to be ready to attack the Persian nation.

The spokesman from the Indian foreign ministry Navtej Sarna said that India is seriously worried about declarations of military threats against Iran.

That type of action constitutes unacceptable international behaviour and will have terrible consequences for the region and world, warned Sarna.

The speaker emphasized New Delhi’s position while commenting press reports by which President George W. Bush ordered them to prepare an attack against Iran if Teheran’s civil energy program talks fail.

A British newspaper reported Sunday that Washington told Tel Aviv that Bush backed the Israeli plan to bomb Iranian nuclear powers with long-range missiles if talks are broken off.

Emphasizing that there are no military solutions for the matter, Sarna stressed that New Delhi backs diplomatic channels and talks instead of threats and use of force.
