CPI-M urges government to identify root of terror

By IANS,

Kolkata : Describing the serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad as horrific, the Commmunist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Sunday called upon the government and the security agencies to take serious measures and “track down the root of the terrorist activities”.

“When I was here, horrific blasts occurred in Ahmedabad Saturday. A day before, there were blasts in Bangalore. Earlier, there were blasts in Jaipur also. The whole country is worried,” CPI-M general secretary Prakash Karat told reporters here.

“We urge the government and security agencies to take serious measures and track down the root of the terrorist activities behind these (blasts),” Karat said emerging from the two-day meeting of the party’s West Bengal committee.

He condoled the deaths and extended sympathies to the bereaved families.

Twenty bombs tore through Ahmedabad, killing at least 45 people and injuring 100 Saturday. On Friday, one woman died and seven others sustained injures in the Bangalore blasts.
