Obama Slightly Leading in Vote Intention

By Prensa Latina,

Washington : US Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is now leading the vote intention for the November general elections, though his edge is just 2.5 percent, revealed a Real Clear Politics poll summary on Monday.

Real Clear Politics compiled polls made by firms Gallup and Rasmussen, TV networks CNN, FOX News and NBC News and USA Today and The Wall Street Journal dailies, among other entities.

RCP website said Obama, Senator for the state of Illinois, received the support of 46.5 percent of the interviewed people, barely excelling Republican aspirant John McCain.

The margin between both contenders is the smallest reported by the specialized website since the end of the Democratic Party’s primary elections on June 3.

Obama heads possible votes in the states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Colorado and Virginia. McCain, legislator for the state of Arizona, dominates in Florida, North Carolina and Missouri.

Experts said the results are still far from showing any determining edge in these states.

Both Obama as McCain´s campaigns have been characterized by mutual criticism when facing US public´s main concerns on the war in Iraq and the US weakened economy.

McCain has been particularly aggressive, since US press media estimated he is centering his electoral speeches in discrediting his opponent, rather than in making concrete proposals on domestic affairs.
