Mixed bag in Class 10, 12 board exams in Delhi

By IANS, New Delhi : Unlike the countrywide trend of girls outperforming boys, in Delhi and the neighbouring areas, boys have outshone girls in the class 12 Indian School Certificate (ISC) board exams. In the class 10 exam, however, girls have done better than boys. With a pass percentage of 97.63 percent, girls have done better than boys in class 10. The pass percentage of boys was 96.85 percent. In class 12, however, boys have a better pass percentage of 98.98 percent. The pass percentage of girls was 98.75 percent.

West Bengal student takes 17 years to pass Class 10

By IANS, New Delhi: With swine flu cases spiraling accross the country, India Wednesday issued the following guidelines to private laboratories for conducting H1N1 tests: General bio-safety measures: Gloves (latex), shoe cover, head cover, goggles, triple layered mask, mask with N-95 specification, front closed full length apron, puncture resistant auto-clavable yellow coloured bio-safety bag with bio-safety symbols, hypochlorite solution. Civil infrastructure: Separate dedicated areas for sample handling and testing.

Newark airport on lockdown after security scare

By DPA, Washington : Newark International Airport in New Jersey was under lockdown after a man reportedly passed through the exit of a security checkpoint without being screened, US media reports said. The Federal Aviation Administration said on its website that the airport's terminal C had experienced a security breach. All passengers who had already passed through the security check point were being re-screened and no flights were leaving from the terminal, CNN reported.

8,000 students to take CAT re-test

By IANS, New Delhi : Nearly 8,000 candidates, who could not appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) for entry to the country's top B-schools due to software glitches, would sit for the exam Saturday and Sunday, an official release said. Nine centres, including two in Delhi, have been identified for students to take the online exam. The CAT went online for the first time in 2009 but several students could not appear for the exam due to technical glitches in the exam system.
