Coalition members warn to adjourn House sine die; NC says will bring no-confidence motion against Speaker

Srinagar : It was threats galore in the Legislative Assembly lawns with the ruling coalition threatening to adjourn the House sine die. While the National Conference threatened to move a vote of ‘No Confidence’ against Speaker Tara Chand, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party demanded dissolution of the Assembly and holding of fresh elections in the state.
As soon as the Speaker Tara Chand announced adjournment of the House, National Conference MLAs led by the Leader of Opposition Abdul Rahim Rather occupied the stage set up by Information department announcing that Finance, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Hameed Karra has lost his ‘mental balance’.
Rathar alleged that order had been restored in the Assembly after the National Panthers MLA was marshaled out of the Assembly but Finance Minister created a ruckus in the Assembly leading to fear among them that he(Karra) has lost his mental balance.
The NC leader further alleged that coalition government is fearing the opposition onslaught and that is why they have curtailed the session. He alleged that Speaker is also playing partisan and even at the drop of hat he adjourns the House.
He alleged that adjournments are pre-planned and they would be forced to move a no-confidence motion against the Speaker.
Rather confided that even the coalition partners are ‘vary’ of the ways of the Speaker and coalition partner PDF MLA Usman Majid requested him to move a ‘no-confidence’ motion against the Speaker.
As soon as the opposition MLAs left the dais, coalition MLAs and Minister comprising Agriculture Minister Abdul Aziz Zargar, CAPD Minister Taj Mohiuddin, Tourism Minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir, Rural development Minister Jugal Kishore, Social Welfare Minister Haji Nissar, MOS Finance Prem Sagar Aziz and MLCs Ashok Sharma, Rajinder Singh Chib and Arvinder Singh Micky launched a frontal attack against the opposition threatening to request the Speaker to adjourn the House sine die.
Cong Minister Taj Mohiuddin speaking in defence of Finance Minister Tariq Hameed Karra said that coalition leaders are standing behind him like a rock. He said that Finance Minister’s speech was well thought of and he exposed the corrupt mindset of the National Conference.
He said that government is serious to conduct the house but opposition is playing to the galleries. He alleged that NC has been in the habit of joining hands with ideological adversaries including BJP and JKNPP.
Taj said that NPP is making noises as they were not awarded with a ministry.
Minister for Rural Development Jugal Kishore alleged that Panthers Party is playing vote politics and using Talwara Migrants issue as a beating stick to embarrass the state government.
As the congress leaders were speaking on the occasion, panthers Party Supremo Prof. Bhim Singh also joined them on the stage leading to their sudden exit from the dais.
Bhim Singh alleged that their is nexus between the Speaker and the Government and the adjournments are being used as a tool to save the government from embarrassment.
He said that despite Supreme Court ruling to treat all the migrants at par with Kashmiri migrants, Government is not adhering to court rulings.
He said that Jammu migrants’ issue is not for political mileage, as they are neither his voters nor have any political benefit as their are just 11,000 persons involved in it. “It is a human issue as the migrants are on the verge of starvation,” Singh asserted.
He alleged that Centre government released Rs. 70 crores for border migrants, and rs 17 crore were siphoned off by the Speaker in collusion with the state Ministers.
He said that Ghulam Nabi Azad is adopting ‘Changez Khan’ tactics to suppress the voice of people of the state.
‘Yahan par changezi Raj Chal Raha hai aur Azad ne patwari se DC tak Congressi lagaye hue hain, ” Bhim Singh said.
He said that Harsh Dev Singh has been suspended from the Assembly to divert the issue of murder of an RDD employee and Talwara migrants plight.
Bhim Singh demanded dissolution of state Assembly and holding of fresh elections, alleging that people have lost faith in the government.
