J&K: NC, NPP members evicted out of House

Srinagar : At least four MLAs from National Conference and Panthers Party were today evicted out of the House by marshals – on the direction of Deputy Speaker – after they staged a strong protest demonstration in the Well of the House.

As soon as the House reassembled, after being adjourned by the speaker for ten minutes, National Conference MLAs staged protest on the issue of alleged discrimination with Kupwara district.

Dressed in black gowns and carrying banner NC members Kafil-ur-Rehman, Jamsheed Lone and Saifullah Mir stromed the Well of the House and started raising slogans against the government.

Deputy Speaker Akbar Lone, who was on the chair, asked the members to take their seats. “You are playing to the galleries”, he said while directing the members to resume their seats.

Unrelenting the NC MLAs were ordered to be evicted from the House by the Deputy Speaker.

Later, when the assembly resumed its business after the second adjournment, it was Panthers Party MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia who rushed to the well in protest against the suspension of Harsh Dev Singh.

In a fist of anger, Mankotia rushed to the well and snatched mike from the Minister. He was marshaled out of the House on the direction of the Speaker.
