"We are preparing chicken biryani and all kinds of sweets," said an excited Bisma Farheen, sister of Haneef's wife Firdous Arshiya. "Firdous is very busy with preparations to welcome him."

Relatives started arriving at the Haneef house in BTM Layout area here Saturday. "Around 50 (people) may be there by evening," Bisma told IANS.

"We have not yet decided who all will go the airport. There will be a heavy rush with so many media people there, isn't it?" she asked. The family said Haneef would arrive Sunday night.

The narrow road leading to the house was bustling with activity with an army of journalists gathered outside to capture the mood of the family.

On Saturday evening, Haneef boarded a Thai airways flight from Brisbane to Bangkok, ending a torturous period that began for him July 2 in Australia when he was arrested while preparing to fly to Bangalore.

Firdous is flooded with phone calls from friends and strangers seeking to know Haneef's flight details.

The Bangalore Police have agreed to arrange for security at the airport for Haneef following a request from the family.
