Kolkata: A number of national level Muslim organizations of India have come together to form Milli Ittehad Parishad, a joint platform to protest violence in Nandigram.
Jamiat-Ulema-i-Hind, Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamaat Ahl-e-Hadith, Milli Council and Majlis-e-Mushawarat have come together to form Milli Ittehad Parishad in Kolkata. A huge rally was organized on 15th November under the new banner. About a lakh Muslims came out on the streets to protest the violence in Nandigram by CPI(M) cadres that have uprooted thousands, killed and raped a number of people including Muslims.
The Parishad has also resolved to march to Nandigram and use mass arrests as a way to put pressure on the state government.
The Friday protest also raised the issue of Taslima Nasrin’s visa and police complicity in Rizwanur Rahman’s death.
