Beijing : A total of 74,615 people, including nearly 1,000 foreigners, will work as volunteers in the Beijing Olympic Games August 8-24, the Organizing Committee revealed.
At least 1.100 million people, mostly Chinese, volunteered to collaborate in the Games.
Sun Fangchui, an 87-year old engineer appointed for the national stadium, is the oldest volunteer to work in the Beijing Olympics.
The Organizing Committee recruited 400,000 people to work in 550 provisional posts and give first aid to visitors if needed.
One million people will collaborate in traffic and public order tasks and 30,000 in the Beijing Paralympic Games on September 6-17.
