Agartala, March 23 (IANS) To highlight the Indian government’s flagship programmes, the information and broadcasting ministry Sunday launched a campaign across the northeast.
“All the field units of the ministry, including the Directorate of Field Publicity and Song and Drama Division, have started a visual and performing arts campaign,” said Subhashish Chanda, an I&B ministry official.
It is named Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign (BNPIC). The first such campaign is being organised at Satchand, 135 km south of here.
The BNPIC, to be organised mostly in remote areas of the northeast, also includes a pictorial exhibition highlighting the development initiatives of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in the northeast region.
As part of the campaign, a film festival, mega health camp, a blood donation camp, credit delivery camps and sports programmes are being organised.
The flagship programmes include National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, Rajiv Gandhi Drinking Water Mission, Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojana, Total Sanitation Campaign, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, National Rural Health Mission, Sarva Shiksa Abhiyan, Right to Information and Prime Minister’s 15-point programme.
