Bhopal, March 23 (IANS) Samajwadi Party lawmaker Kishore Samrite said he may move court against his suspension from the party on the charge of ‘indiscipline’ after he accused the Congress of offering him a bribe to vote during the Rajya Sabha election.
The Samajwadi Party, which has eight members in the state assembly, backed Independent Vivek Tankha, who was propped up by the Congress party. But Samrite, who is a samajwadi Party legislator, charged the Congress with offering him a bribe to vote for Tankha.
Within 24 hours of Samrite’s allegation, the Samajwadi Party’s state president Narayan Tripathi suspended him from the party. “Samrite has been suspended from the party for indiscipline and it has nothing to do with exposing an alleged bribery by the Congress for voting in favour of Tankha in the Rajya Sabha election,” Tripathi added.
Samrite said his suspension is illegal and he may challenge it in the court. “We are living in a democracy. They (Samajwadi Party leaders) should have first issued me a show-cause notice and listened to me before taking any action but that has not been done,” he told IANS.
“I will fight till the end and, if need be, go to court to seek justice,” he said. “I have already told the police the facts related to the bribing case and truth will come out soon,” he added.
