Islamabad : A new US bombing against northern Waziristan, Pakistan, killed at least 13 people, Geo News Television station reported Friday.
Remote control planes launched five missiles against Jankhel in this Pakistani northwestern tribal area, allegedly an Al-Qaeda hide out, Geo News said.
According to a security officer, cited by the television station, the deceased were foreign activists.
A series of recent attacks on alleged members of Al-Qaeda and guerrilla chiefs in the Pakistani area, bordering with Afghanistan, have prompted tension in Islamabad and Washington.
On Sunday, President Asif Ali Zardari warned US occupation troops’ commander to Afghanistan Gen. David Petraeus that such aggressions were counterproductive and deepen the anti-US feelings.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Pakistani officials urged Petraeus to respect Pakistani sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Pakistani military command reported that 1,500 rebels and 73 soldiers have died since the of the operation against Islamists began in August in Bajaur, an autonomous region that borders with Afghanistan.
