Havana : Cuba’s Youth Communist League (UJC) called youth and students organizations from all over the world to join the current international drive for the lifting of the US blockade of the Caribbean island state.
In a statement released on Sunday, the UJC National Bureau warned that Washington is insisting on maintaining its economic, trade and financial sanctions against Cuba, in spite of the devastation caused by hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
In its text, the Cuban youth organization also voiced its gratitude for the solidarity messages and donations sent to the hurricane-hit island from all over the world.
Such acts are more appreciated for what they mean to us than for their material value, the statement said.
Regarding the conditioned aid relief offered by the United States government, the UJC warned that Cuba will accept neither gifts nor impositions of any kind.
The text added that Cuban youths have been taught in the virtue of daily struggle, so they support Fidel Castro’s recent warning that neither natural hurricanes nor hurricanes of cynicism will be able to defeat the Cuban Revolution.
