Moscow : Without conceding in the strategic diferendum with the West, particularly the United States, Russia is heading today to a moderate detente between strong and equal.
Political signs given last week by President Dmitri Medvedev, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and the department of foreign affairs, indicate that Moscow will continue stimulating cooperation, but without conceding on the geopolitical challenge.
After refuting isolation threats uttered by on Sep. 19 by US Secretary of State, Condolezza Rice, Medvedev felt that the US is pushing the nation to independent development instead of a civilized mutual aid.
The Russian State Department was absolute in a note published on the Internet, warning that Washington is hiding the crimes committed by Georgian military during their occupation of South Ossetia.
Regarding the judgments and threats made by Rice, the Kremlin’s diplomacy added that any attempt to punish Russia seems counterproductive.
It also says that along with these measures can be included the withdrawal of the nuclear agreement between both countries, as well as Moscow’s insertion in the World Trade Organization.
In reference to Rice, the Foreign Affairs Ministry makes clear that it will not be involved in confrontation, not even rhetorically, and it expresses its will to promote positive and unifying relations because “it’s what the world needs today,” adds.
As a positive detail it expresses satisfaction because “the US has started to recognize that we live in a multipolar world,” says.
Putin, on his behalf, directed a message to the participants of the Sixth International Investments Forum of Sochi, in which he denied defiance as an option for Russia.
In regards to the economic crisis, he added that “different to other years we are strong, we have developed another level to our economy,” said.
The politician informed that reserves rise up to 550 billion dollars, the fund for strategic treasury has around 140 billion of the same monetary unit and the social welfare program has 32 billion US dollars.
The leader considered that the country has developed strength in the effectiveness of its financial institutions and the creation of a useful insurance system.
“Russia is the seventh country in the world by the magnitude of its economy, with a gross domestic product that increases around seven percent each year,” concluded Putin, in front of hundreds of business men gathered at the Sochi Forum.
In that city of the Black Sea, Putin met this Saturday with his French counterpart, Francoise Fillon, who at the end of the talks announced officially that the European Union will resume in October discussions with Moscow, that were cut after the Caucasian conflict.
As a representative of the country that has the temporary presidency of the Union, Fillon said that in the dialogue Paris hopes to launch the signing of a new agreement of strategic alliance between Europe and the Kremlin.
While Putin met in Sochi with Fillon, in Moscow, Medvedev as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces confirmed the plan to execute military maneuvers called “Stability 80”.
The state television channel reported that in a closed door meeting, Defense Secretary, Anatoli Serdiukov, and chief of troops, Nikolai Makarov, gave details about those military exercises.
Previously the station announced that international nuclear missiles Bulava will be able to use in 2009 after successful practices such as the flights of two strategic Tu-160 bombers in the western hemisphere, particularly in South America.
Russia is willing in one hand to cooperate with many countries in the world today, while in the other it shows a powerful arsenal developed in a thoughtful manner.
The actual proposal of association with the West reveals the failure of an international affairs project designed after the collapse of the Soviet Union in which Moscow was considered inferior.
The results provoked by Georgia’s attack of South Ossetia, point to a distension based on fairness and respect between each counterpart.
