Riyadh : The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdul Rahman Al-Attiya strongly condemned on Sunday the terrorist attack in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, which left over 50 people killed and more than 200 injured.
Al-Attiya expressed in a statement his deep regret and sorrow of such terrorist operations and losses of innocent lives, as well as undermining security and stability of the country.
The Secretary General renewed GCC’s stance and solidarity with the Republic of Pakistan, at the same time stressing rejection of any type of terrorism whatever kind and source it might be.
Last night, Pakistan was put on red alert after a huge suicide blast hit the Marriott hotel, killing more than 50 and wounding over 200 others including foreigners, only hours after the President addressed the joint session of the parliament and announced to deal terrorism with three-pronged strategy.
A suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden truck into the main gate of the heavily-guarded Marriott hotel at the time when an Iftar dinner was being hosted in the honor of the President.
