India’s Bengala Backs Cuban 5

New Delhi : Authorities from the Indian state of Bengala met Rosa Aurora Freijanes, spouse of one of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in US, and lawyer Nuris Pinero, to whom they expressed their total support.

Those gatherings took place before Freijanes and Pinero, who are touring several Indian cities organized by the Committee of Solidarity with Cuba and supported by the Cuban embassy, left for Hyderabad, state of Andhra Pradesh.

Freijanes is the wife of Fernando Gonzales, who along with Rene Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero and Ramon Labanino, is serving harsh sentences in US jails.

Bengala’s Minister-Head Bhudadebh Bhattacharya, and India’s Marxist Communist Party secretary and president of the Left Front Biman Bosealso met with Freijanes and Pinero in Kolkata.

Both women firstly explained irregularities and violations in the case of the Five during acts held in the Kolkata University and the Chemical Engineering Institute at the Jadavpur University.

Freijanes later attended a rally organized by the National Congress of the Indian Students Federation. In all activities, the Committee of Solidarity with Cuba continued collecting signatures to demand the release of the Five.

After visiting Hyderabad, Freijanes and Pinero will go to Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram, state of Kerala, before returning New Delhi, to end their visit to this country October 5.
