LONDON, Jan 15 (KUNA) — In a sign of increasing anger and frustration at the events in Gaza, over 100 British MPs have so far signed a motion expressing “outrage at Israels overwhelmingly disproportionate use of force in Gaza”, it was revealed here Thursday.
The Council of Arab-British Understanding (CAABU) said in a press release the motion contains several key demands of the British Government including a full EU-wide arms embargo of both sides and an end to any further moves to continue with the “implementation of its Association Agreement with Israel”.
CAABU Director Chris Doyle welcomed this show of Parliamentary support for the people of Gaza living under occupation.
He said in a statement “The (British) Government should not ignore the huge groundswell of opinion in Parliament and in the country that Israeli actions are a disgrace”. “Once again, Israel has systematically broken international law and defied the international community, refusing to end the 41-year-old occupation of both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank”.
“What is clear is that far more is expected of the British Government in holding Israel to account,” the statement added.
