New Delhi: Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni and party spokesperson Manish Tewari have been included in the Pradesh Election Committee constituted by Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the forthcoming assembly polls in Punjab.
Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur and Minister of State for Planning Ashwani Kumar are special invitees to the committee.
According to a party release, the 11-member committee includes state party chief Amarinder Singh, legislative party leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and party leaders Lal Singh, Santosh Chaudhary, Darbari Lal, Santokh Singh, Ashwani Sekri, Sardul Singh and Partap Singh Bajwa.
Special invitees to state election committee include Mohinder Singh Kaypee, Jagmeet Singh Brar besides chiefs of party’s frontal organisations in the state.
The panel will screen the applications received by the state Congress from party candidates and give its recommendations to the party’s central panel.
