These families are now homeless. They are being sheltered on the first floor of Al-Hind hospital where some food and other relief items are becoming available. Many of the women spoken to are still in shock, traumatized and fearful Due to a lack of IV stands at Al-Hind hospital doctors and nurses are using clotheslines to hang their IV bottles off of. Mohd Zaid, 26, was attacked by mobs right at the Chandbagh site of protest before the demolished it. He was brought to Al-Hind Hospital. Mehfooz Umar, 46, is an e-rickshaw driver. He was dropping people off at Shiv Vihar and returning to Mustafabad when a mob of around 300 people attacked his e-rickshaw, beat him with rods, kicked him in the stomach and genital area until he became unconscious. he says about ten to fifteen minutes after first losing consciousness, he managed to get up to drag himself and shout for help, but the mob on finding him alive began to resume their attacks on him again. The second time he lost consciousness was all he remembers. When he woke up he was at Al-Hind Hospital. He doesn’t know who brought him there. He doesn’t know where his e-rickshaw is? Several residents could be seen hurrying out of the Shiv Vihar area with what belongings the could take with them. Here, a family who were hiding from the violence have finally come out and are leaving East Delhi. Muslim residents fleeing riot hit areas A family use an auto-rickshaw to leave the riot-hit areas in Delhi Al-Hind hospital in Mustafabad, the site of first response for several injured residents in the area was packed on the first day and was struggling with capacity, lack of doctors, and supplies A young boy drags a suitcase with belongings as residents begin to leave the riot hit areas A school in Mustafabad. It has been burnt down but the writings on a blackboard and some of the wall art in the classroom are still intact. Locals in the Mustafabad area had brought down parts of this structure when they were preventing mobs from entering their neighborhoods. Local residents were facing intense food shortage and hunger. There were several food relief vehicles being turned away in these areas too at this time. One desperate resident is collecting the grains of wheat spilled over. He was going to clean them and use them for feeding his family. The owners of this building were Muslims who informed that after their home was burnt down, the mob also burnt down the car their newly married child had gotten as a marriage present. A burnt car in Delhi’s riot hit areas A maruti suzuki showroom in Chand Bagh vandalised and burnt down. The building is being shut off to journalists as police are inside investigating. Many animals could be found injured with burns, dead, or frightened in these areas. This dog was found in a burnt building and was gently coaxed out then rescued A petrol station in Chandbagh on Wazirabad Main Road completely incinerated Another EDMC Worker starting clean-up from the Maujpur area, where residents are saying the burning and violence begun to spread Heavy deployment of EDMC (East Delhi Municpality Corporation) workers to clean up the areas where whole neighborhoods have been destroyed. Several vehicles including e-rickshaws, buses, autos and vehicles have been burnt in and around the Maujpur area.
