Salman Khan attended Ganesh festival on Tuesday where singer Sonu Nigam sang bhajan and puja of Ganesha idol was performed. Media widely reported that Darul Ifta of Bareilly based Manzar-e-Islam madrasa have issued a fatwa against Salman Khan asking him to recite Kalma (Islamic creed).

Today mufti of Manzar-e-Islam clarified that they were asked their opinion about Muslims who worship idols and participates in idol worshipping processions, nowhere Salman Khan or his recent act was mentioned. The rule of Islam regarding idol worshipping is quite clear and this act is considered non-Islamic therefore any Muslim involved in worshipping anyone besides Allah need to recite Kalma again.

The question regarding this was asked by Maulana Adnan Raza Quadri, Vice-President of All India Raza Action Committee. The question was general and not specific to any person. The fatwa was issued by Mufti Maulana Mohammad Farooq, chief of Manzar-e-Islam
