Bengaluru: The Bengaluru fast track sessions court today rejected the anticipatory bail plea submitted by PDP leader Abdunnasir Ma’dani in connection with the Bengaluru blast case. Judge reportedly said that there was prime facie evidence against Ma’dani in the case. The arguments on the plea were completed yesterday and the judge had postponed the final decision for today.

As the plea is rejected, Ma’dani could be arrested anytime by the Karnataka police. The last date for non-bailable arrest warrant issued by the Bengaluru court against Ma’dani has been postponed to July 20. Meanwhile, the members of the PDP at Anvarsseri where Ma’dani is staying are adamant that they won’t let their leader be arrested. Ma’dani had said in the juma qutba today that there was not even one percent chance for his bail and that all should keep calm.

Yesterday when the plea was considered, Ma’dani’s lawyer Adv P Usman submitted Ma’dani’s travel documents before the court. The documents were regarding the travel of Ma’dani outside the state. Ma’dani has B category protection and so cannot travel without the information of the police. Adv Usman argued that the case was cooked up by the police using baseless testimonies. The prosecution argued that Ma’dani was influential in Kerala and so it was dangerous for him to be outside. It was essential for the police to get him in custody for questioning.

The lawyer of Ma’dani argued that the so-called co-conspirators of Ma’dani in the case had been arrested earlier than Thadiyantavide Naseer but they had not given any testimony against Ma’dani. The case was registered against Ma’dani five months after prime suspect Naseer was arrested. The lawyer refuted the charge that Ma’dani had attended the terrorism camp organized by Naseer in Kudak in Karnataka presenting the travel documents of Ma’dani. The prosecution argued that Ma’dani was part of the conspiracies held in Ernakulam and Aluva also. Adv Usman argued that there was no evidence for the accusation that Naseer founded the thareeqath inspired by the books given to him by Ma’dani.

In another development, PDP leaders under the leadership of Gafoor Puthuppadi visited state Revenue Minister KP Rajendran asking him to ensure justice for Ma’dani. Mr Rajendran reportedly assured them that necessary measures would be taken after discussing with the Chief Minister.

Ma’dani was named 31st accused in the case on April 12 and the Bengaluru court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him. He submitted the anticipatory bail plea on June 16 and considering the petition was postponed three times.
