Asking migrant Kashmiri Pandits outside the valley and migrant Kashmiri Muslims in Muzaffarabad to return to the valley, Syed Ali Shah Geelani repeated that any solution to the Kashmir issue within the framework of the Indian constitution would not be acceptable to Kashmiris.

Geelani said that Kashmiris would not accept any readymade solution even if that had the concurrence of India and Pakistan or other nations. “No solution under the Indian constitution will be acceptable to Kashmiris. They will only accept a solution that is based on the right of self-determination and the historical perspective of the Kashmir issue,” Geelani said.

“Kashmir is the basic cause of tension between India and Pakistan, and peace in the subcontinent cannot be guaranteed until this sensitive issue is resolved,” he said.
Geelani advised migrant Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu and other states, and migrant Kashmiri Muslims in Muzaffarabad, to return to the valley.

“I have been advocating right from the outset that Kashmiri Pandits should return to their homes and live alongside their Muslim brothers as before,” he said.
He said that the young generation of Kashmiris was being systematically targeted with cultural aggression in a bid to alter their thinking.

“But Kashmiris will not countenance this, and the younger generation has the duty to develop constructive thinking,” he said. Geelani appealed to the people not to lose heart, but to display fortitude and resolve to carry the struggle to its logical conclusion. “The day in not far off when Kashmir will be free of the Indian military occupation,” he said.
