Patna: When Muslim community is demanding RJD-LJP alliance to announce any Muslim name for deputy chief minister if the alliance forms the next government in Bihar, LJP National Vice President Ahmad Ashfaq Karim has demanded the alliance leadership to project Maulana Syed Mohammad Wali Rahmani, Sajjada Nashin, Khanqah Rahmani of Munger, as Deputy CM.
It should be noted here that it was Lok Janshakti Party chief Ram Vilas Paswan who promised during the 2005 Bihar Assembly election that in case his party came to power, the chief minister would be a Muslim but it did not happen as the party got very little number of the seats.
As RJD chief Mr. Lalu Prasad has been named as chief ministerial candidate by the alliance, Muslim LJP leaders want Mr. Paswan to announce Muslim name for deputy chief minister to gain Muslims’ support. Mr. Ashfaq Karim has endorsed Maulana Wali Rahmani’s name for the post.
Ahmad Ashfaq Karim, who is founder of Katihar Medical College and unsuccessfully contested 2009 Lok Sabha election from Katihar, himelf has been considered as the candidate for the deputy chief minister. But he withdrew from the race and said that Maulana Rahamini is the perfect man for the post because he is not only a religious leader but also has deep political prudence and he enjoyed the post of working chairman of Bihar Legislative Council in the past.
