Chandauli (UP): A dispute between Muslims and Yadavas over Tajia procession on Tuesday on the occasion of Muharram, at Dulahipur village in Chandauli district in Uttar Pradesh, led to communal tension. The local police resorted to firing but no case of death or serious injuries have been reported from the spot.
Dr. Lenin Raghuvanshi, Varansi based human rights activists based told TwoCircles.net, that violent confrontation took place between Muslim and Yadav communities, when the latter objected to the route of Tajia procession from within the village. There were reported incidents of burning vehicles from both the parties.
Police fired on the rioting mob but according to local sources no death has been reported. Later both Yadava and Muslim communities registered FIR. There is an undeclared curfew as police and PAC has been deputed in the area. At present the situation is reportedly under control.
