Merkel, Obama discuss Libyan situation on the phone

By IRNA,

Berlin: German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Barack Obama discussed on the phone the latest developments in strife-torn Libya, said German deputy government spokesperson Christoph Steegmans in Berlin.

Both leaders agreed that the regime of Libyan ruler Moammar Qaddafi has lost all its legitimacy amid the ongoing massacres of thousands of Libyans.
Merkel and Obama demanded an end to Qaddafi’s suppression of its people.
They also urged the swift approval of UN Security Council sanctions against the Libyan regime.
Washington and Berlin have pressed for a sanction package against Tripoli which
would include visa bans on regime officials, asset freezes on individuals and
companies linked to repression, and international arms embargoes.
