Mr. E. Aboobacker, the national president of SDPI, in a statement expressed deep concern over the violence and said it seems that the virus of Communalism has got deep rooted in the Hyderabad police. He asked the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister to purge the police force of such elements so that it works in an impartial manner.

Mr. Aboobacker said that the communal violence has traumatised the Muslim community in parts of old Hyderabad city. He demanded an impartial inquiry into the eruption of communal violence and urged the government to compensate the Muslim families whose properties have been damaged in the violence.

He charged that police remained a mute spectator as unruly mobs of RSS affiliates such like BJP, VHP, Bajrang Dal, Hindu Vahini, Durga Vahini etc. carried out brutal attacks in Muslim localities causing extensive damage to life and property. The police failed to control the rampaging mob, he added.

Mr. Aboobacker accused the police of being under the influence of Hindutva forces that it did not take appropriate action against hatemonger Praveen Togadia of VHP whose hate speeches on the eve of Hanuman Jayanthi against Muslims and Christens vitiated the whole atmosphere and laid the ground for eruption of such a volcanic situation.

He said the Hanuman Temple episode wherein some miscreants allegedly threw flesh of cow in the premises of Mandir was just an excuse for the Hindutva brigade to unleash terror and indulge in incidents of arson and loot. The marauders molesting even the womenfolk of Muslim community by entering their houses.
