Mecca Masjid blast: Court reserves order on bail plea of Bharat Mohan Lal

Hyderabad: The argument on the bail petition filed by Bharat Mohan Lal, one of the accused in 2007 Mecca Masjid bomb blasts case was completed on Friday in the fourth additional metropolitan judge at the Nampally criminal court of Hyderabad. The court, however, reserved the order for May 15.

Bharat Mohan Lal (Bharat Bhai) from Gujarat was arrested by the National Investigation Agency in November 2011 for providing financial and logistical support to carry out the blast at the historic Mecca Masjid in the heart of Hyderabad, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh. Lal is in Charlapally jail. He was brought here by NIA from Vijaypur jail in Rajasthan where he is also accused in the Ajmer Dargah blast case. Lal is a native of Gujarat.

From Lal’s side, Adv. Raja Vardhan Reddy argued and appealed to the court to grant him bail but the advocate of NIA strongly apposed the bail petition and said that if he is released he could influence the investigation in the Mecca Masjid blast case.

It is necessary to mention here that CBI arrested three persons, swami Asimanand, Lokesh Sharma, Bharat Mohan lal belong to right wing groups in the involvement of Mecca masjid blast one accused is still in absconding and one accused Sunil Joshi was killed

In the month of may 2007 Mecca masjid blast and subsequent police firing took place in which 14 Muslims were killed, immediate after the Mecca masjid blast Hyderabad city police in the name of investigation arrested 80 Muslim youths and used third degree torture methods as per the victims statement police were forcing them to take the responsibility of Mecca masjid blast. Then after implicated these youth in false cases and detained them into jail, but during the trail police could not produce any evidence against this youths they all were acquitted then after Govt of Andhra Pradesh tender its apology and paid the compensation
