Blast at RSS centre near madrasa in Pondicherry; Muslims demand fair probe

By Abdul Basith MA, TwoCircles.net,

Mahe [Pondicherry]: Two RSS activists were found injured after a bomb exploded at the RSS centre at Vazhalilpeedika, near Panthakkal, Mahe – where a Madrasa run by the Sidheeqiya Cultural Centre was forced to stay closed due to the Hindu Aikya Vedi threats. Muslims in the area have demanded proper investigation into this blast as they believe the incident is closely linked to the Saffron threats against the working of the Madrasa in the region.

The blast left two RSS workers – Kuniyil Jishin [22] and Jithu [22] injured; both are now under treatment at the Pallur Govt Hospital. It is not clear if the two were wounded while making bombs at the centre. The police have traced the remains of the explosive material used and an investigation has been initiated.

The Mahe Administrator had succumbed to the Hindutva threats as he asked the Madrasa committee to keep Madrasa closed on Wednesday. His earlier decision was to provide Police security to ensure functioning of the Madrasa from Tuesday onwards. It is believed that he was forced to change his decision by Sanghparivar. The threats, campaigns and offensive slogans raised by RSS and Hindu Aikya Vedi activists have already created a turbulent atmosphere. A strong Police Patrolling has been enforced.
