Kochi: Elankunnapuzha Village Officer Dhruvanatha Prabhu got suspended from the post as he attested the community certificate issued to a Post Graduate Student – Panthakkal Muhammed as ‘not belonging to any Muslim extremist group’. District Collector Sheikh Pareed said that the suspension order is based on the RDO report. Special Village Officer has been entitled with the responsibility of the post temporarily. The action was taken after Muslim organisations unanimously raised their protest over the issue and made him apologise in public.

The investigation is expected to look into the role of the higher officials of Taluk office who instead of pointing out the Village Officer’s mistake issued the community certificate to Muhammed, without even making an attempt to remove the controversial remark.
