Lateef Mohammed Khan, Gen. Secretary of the organization said that these acts are used by the governments against political rivals hence it considers Akbaruddin Owaisi also a political prisoner.

Civil Liberties condemned the police custody of Mr. Akbaruddin Owaisi and questions the Judiciary that when the matter is about the “speech” then what is the need of interrogation? Civil Liberties wants to clear that the government wants to suppress Muslims aspiration; it also wants to clear that when a legislator can be dealt in such a manner then what will be the condition of a common Muslim? Kiran Kumar Reddy’s Congress government and Governor of Andhra Pradesh have soft corner towards the Hindutva forces and all this is being done by the instructions of them.

Mr. Khan also said that this issue is not just about Akbaruddin or his party Majlis Ittehadul-Muslimeen but the whole Muslim community because the cases and sections imposed on Owaisi are the indication that the government is using Owaisi to target the whole Muslim community while at the same time giving freehand to Hindutva forces.
