“The social, political and economic situation prevailing in India demands emergence of a new political movement that upholds sovereignty of the country and its values,” Sayeed, the chief of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), said here.

He was delivering the key note address at the ‘Leadership Meet’ organized by the Indian Social Forum (ISF) at Rafah Hospital Auditorium.

Criticizing the “so-called secular parties”, Sayeed said, the recent election result showed that no proper efforts had been put forward by these parties to defeat the ‘Modi Wave’ and “It looked like a pre-fixed match between secular parties such as Congress, Left parties and the BJP, RSS.”

There was also a big unseen hand of Corporate giants as well, he alleged, and added, “There were no serious attempts to make an alliance between the secular parties before the election to defeat BJP. The effort was clearly revealed in Bihar by Lalu (Prasad) and Nitish (Kumar) that same spirit could have helped defeat fascists from ruling.”

Sayeed also lambasted Congress as he said, “Internal democracy of the Congress party has totally collapsed in recent days. During the time of Indira Gandhi, when she decided to contest from Chickmangalore, many Congress leaders, especially high profile Congress leader such as AK Antony, opposed her move. But today the same Antony is the one, who initiated the nomination of Rahul Gandhi as vice president of INC.”

“There is dictatorship (dynasty) in Congress party and no internal democracy at all. It is a dangerous trend for the largest democratic country. Congress is far away from the principles of democracy and its ethos and values these days,” he said.

The SDPI leader also came down heavily on the Left parties, wherein he claimed “members of Communist parties are joining the BJP in mass level is dangerous trend. Left parties have to rethink why this is taking place?”

“The media have portrayed themselves as servant of the Corporate sector and thus the people from the marginalized group need to come under alliance in one umbrella of a political movement, which has two core agendas,” he said, adding, “Our country’s marginalized, downtrodden backward class has to get freedom from hunger and freedom from fear and also we will keeps on working to hand over the power to the people who are the right owners of our country and will take the opportunity to deliver social justice to all without their cast creed religion etc.”
