Hindu radicals continue violence in certain areas of Maharashtra, VHP members arrested

Mumbai: Violence continues in certain areas of Maharashtra, this time due to the uploading of derogatory images of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar even after the police have acted firmly in arresting many from the affected areas. There are reports of incidences of stone pelting in Nashik and Pune. In Nashik police have booked 22 miscreants out of which 3 have been arrested where as in Pune 45 buses have been damaged and city police have arrested 40 miscreants.

Nashik & Malegaon:

There were stone pelting on buses and cars running on Shirdi- Manmad road of Nashik whereas 3 buses were burned by radicals in Malegaon where the police have registered case against 22 Hindu radicals out of which three have been arrested on late Sunday night. Names of these accused are – Machandra Shirke, Bhushan Rajendra and Shakti Rajesh. All these three belong to Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

The 3 buses and an Indica car with number – MH – 14 BT 3902 (Mumbai to Ravel) ,MH – 20 ML 2402 (Mumbai to Ambalner) , MH – 14 BT 1425 and MH – 41 BT 4155 were damaged by the stone pelting Hindu radicals.

In Malegaon, 70-80 Hindu radicals having sticks in their hands came chanting slogans on the garage line where Muslims shops are there and started to close down shops forcefully due to which people started to run here and there. Immediately police came and arrested Machandra Shirke who was caught red handed chanting anti communal slogans and urging the mob for committing violence.

Pune:

There are also reports of public property damages due to stone pelting in certain areas of Pune. The stone pelting has been reported from Wadekal Pool, Mangalwar Peth, Vishrantwadi, Dandekar Pool, Sinhgarh Road, Nehru Nagar, Tilak Road, Kothrud and Pimpri.

Nearly 45 PMT buses have been targeted in these areas by the miscreants. Police have so far arrested 40 radicals for damaging public property in the fresh incidences of violence. ACP Sanjay Kumar said that police will continue to arrest those who are breaking the laws and creating disturbances.

Aurangabad:

Some areas of Aurangabad city also reported minor incidents of stone pelting, following which shops had to be downed shutters, especially under the jurisdiction of Mukundwadi, Jawahar Nagar and Cidco police stations. For the past few days, the city is under the siege of miscreants who are circulating objectionable content in an attempt to disrupt communal harmony.

As rumors spread, shop owners downed shutters and markets in Ramnagar, Trimurti Chowk, Ulkanagri, Baudha Nagar, Garkheda, TV centre and Jadhavwadi areas wore a deserted look.

Aurangabad city cyber cell chief, inspector Gautam Patare, said that Sunday’s protests were allegedly against some objectionable posts against Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on social networking site, Facebook.
Meanwhile, Republican Party of India (RPI) has appealed to people to not particiapte in violent protest in the name of uploading of derogatory images of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar as these acts were done to divide the community and to spread hatred amongst the different communities.
