Honourable Modi Ji,

We are happy to have you as the Prime Minister of India at this opportune time and wishing you a long life and innings.

You have been given this great honour and responsibility by the people of this great nation and civilization, which ensures well-being of all, guaranteed by the Constitution of India. We look forward to you to uphold and further enhance these values.

We stand justified to expect that you will take the country forward into the league of really big powers. We are confident and expect that we will have an economic transformation under you, taking the country to the next stage of development.

We will not be called unrealistic if we hope that millions of jobs will be created every year and FDI will find India the most attractive destination for investment.

Now, our expectations for having good days have over-shadowed apprehensions of insecurity, victimisation and injustice.

It is not unfair either to expect that you will import the Gujarat model of development without memories of ghastly incidents of communal violence of 2002. From our experience we have come to see you as one of our most intelligent politicians. There is no reason for any intelligent person to believe that a ruler does not belong to any particular section of society and has a dharma to serve all on equal footings.

We expect that in future we would not see the lapses of the past and the PM will be equally close to, or equi-distant from, all sections of Indian society. Your announcement that your government will be the government of the poor is reassuring.

With this, I extend my best wishes for your government.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. Mohammad Manzoor Alam
