The city’s Kadri police registered an FIR on Thursday evening under IPC sections 354D (2) [assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty] , 506 [Criminal intimidation], 500 [Defamation], and under IT Act 67 and 67A [Publishing of obscene information in electronic form].

On December 21, Vidya Dinker had filed a complaint against Bajrang Dal activists for forcibly stopping the screening of the ‘Dilwale’ movie in theatres in the city, following which a case was filed in the Pandeshwar police station.

Irked with this, Bajrang Dal co-convener Punith Raj Kottari and other activists, condemned Vidya Dinker on Facebook for complaining against them and allegedly made offensive remarks against her and attempted to intimidate her.

Dinkar filed complaint against such obscene and threatening posts on a Facebook page called ‘Veera Kesari’ and alleged that its followers uploaded remarks threatening to physically assault, rape and murder her.

She also claimed that death threat and defamatory comments were made against her through propaganda by various other means. The police then registered an FIR and are investigating the case.
