Pakistani senate member awarded ‘Pride of Ludhiana’ award

Ludhiana: An 85-year-old Pakistan senate member Humaza has been awarded with the ‘Fakhr-e-Ludhiyana’ (Pride of Ludhiana) prestige here on Friday.

Humaza was awarded by the Shahi Imam Maulana Habibur Raheman Ludhiyanvi when he visited the city, his birth place. The Pakistani member of Parliament was accompanied by his son Ikrama during, what he described as his “dream visit” to his city of birth.

Emotional after reaching his birth place, he said,” I feel very happy to be in Ludhiana again but also feel pain for not seeing people who were with me in the city before Partition”.

Humaza was born on March 20, 1929 here; completed his matriculation from the city’s Islamiya High School and later pursued a Masters in Arts from the Governmental College. During partition, his family chose to migrate to a town Gojra in Pakistan. He got elected to the assembly from the same place for a number of times.

He was moved after reaching to his old house on the Habib Road. “This is my birth place and I have memories of this beautiful city that will always remain in my heart,” he said while addressing reporters here.

Commenting on the political situation between the two neighboring countries, he said, “There is no religion of terrorism. People of both the countries wish to live in peace and harmony.”

Many dignitaries, including vice Shahi Imam Maulana Usmn Rahmani and secretary of Shahi Imam Muhammad Mustaqeem Ahrari, were present during the award ceremony.
