New Delhi: The Subject Association of Academy of International Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia on Wednesday organized an Interactive Discussion on the current political crises in West Asia.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Professor Tasneem Meenai, Dean Students’ Welfare and Director, Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace & Conflict Resolution, JMI.
The speakers included Professor A.K. Ramakrishnan, Centre for West Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University and senior journalists Seema Mustafa, Editor-in-Chief of The Citizen and Qamar Agha.
The programme was held at the Ho Chi Minh Conference Room of the Academy. Later in the afternoon, the Centre for Afghanistan Studies of the Academy screened a film: “16 Days in Afghanistan” by Anwar Hajher.
Produced by Mithaq Kazimi, this was the first documentary since the fall of Taliban. It was also the first professionally produced documentary about Afghanistan by a team of Afghan filmmakers and has become a reference film used by many, including Penguin Books’s study guides about Afghan-related books.
In each of the session, students had open discussions with the senior journalists and academicians where they expressed their opinions freely as they got new insights from the experts of the respective fields.
