Imam hacked to death in Kasargod, police clueless

Kasargod: Tension prevailed in the district of Kasargod following the brutal murder of an Imam at Choori in Kasargod town. Riyas Moulavi, Imam of the Muhyudheen mosque, was hacked to death by a group of people on Monday night.

According to reports, Riyas was sleeping in a room inside the mosque and was hacked by a group of unidentified people. When Riyas’s colleague Abdul Asees Musliyar, who sleeping in another room, tried to come out of his room after hearing the noise, the culprits pelted him with stones.

Following the incident, security forces have been deployed across Kasargod town. Led by North Zone ADGP Rajesh Dewan, the police force has strengthened surveillance in order to avert any kind of unwanted incident.

Following the incident, the IUML called for a Hartal (strike) in Kasargod and demanded a probe into the murder. The party district leader A Abdul Rahman demanded the State Government to appoint a special police president from outside the district, alleging that the police force in the district was working against Muslims.
