Lucknow: Terming it as anti-muslim, the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Sunday castigated the Uttar Pradesh government for mishandling the haj pilgrimage affairs in the state. The party also alleged that Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) regime has turned a Nelson’s eye towards the upliftment of muslims.

“With two ministers managing the haj pilgrimage in the state still there is utter chaos and confusion in the process. No initiative has been taken by the state government for scheduling the flights, immunisation and issuance of visas to the devotees. BSP government cannot getaway by passing the ball in Centre’s court,” said state spokesperson, Rajendra Choudhary in Lucknow on Sunday.

The party also chided the state government for large scale bunglings in recently concluded waqf boards elections in the state. It raised the issue of rampant corruption in the Waqf Board and Hussainabad Trust. “The government has opened wine shops on the land of Hussainabad Trust. The muslim community of both Shia and Sunni sect is angry over such developments,” he alleged. He also reteriated that centre sponsored Multi Sectoral Development Schemes in muslim dominated districts are marred with corruption.

“Muslim brethren have realised that much cannot be expected from Chief Minister Mayawati who has campaigned for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi during elections. However Mulayam Singh has risked his government for saving the Babri masjid,” said Choudhary. The party also underlined that several schemes for muslim development as term loan schemes, urdu teacher recruitment, grant aid to madarsas too are being over looked by the state government.
