Malappuram: India’s political awareness is an example for all countries, opined Sheikh Ibrahim Ahmed Salih, under-secretary of the Religious Affairs Department in Kuwait. Every believer is responsible to put an end to the exploitation in faith affairs. He was inaugurating the valedictory public meeting of the MSM Kerala Students Conference at Kottakkal in Malappuram on Sunday.

The three-day students conference was organized by the Muslim Students’ Movement (MSM), students’ wing of the Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen (KNM). The conference on the theme ‘Knowledge for Peace’ began on January 7 at Randathani near Kottakkal, as part of the 40th anniversary of the MSM. The valedictory public meeting was attended by hundreds of members and sympathizers of the KNM from different places.

KNM general secretary AP Abdul Qader Moulavi presided over the valedictory session. Sheikh Muhammed Suhail al Muhairi, director of the Dubai Government Advisory Council, was the Chief Guest at the session. KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala, Muslim League state general secretary PK Kunhalikkutty, Adv PMA Salam and PK Abdurabb (MLAs), PV Abdul Wahab (ex-MP of Rajya Sabha), CHandy Oommen, Shafi Methar, KNM state president TP Abdullakkoya Madani, KJU secretary M Muhammed Madani, and Ithihadu Shubbanil Mujahideen (ISM) president Syed Muhammed Shakir also spoke.

The debates, discussions and seminars in the conference dealt with a multitude of topics such as terrorism, human rights and social justice, population, poverty alleviation, protection of environment, relationships, social integrity and nation building, globalization, religion and science, campus politics, addiction and sexuality, etc. The Qur’an seminar, Know the Prophet, Faith – Morality – Salvation, etc were some of the sessions held in the three days.

Islamic, finance, interest-free banking, insurance and Zakath were dealt in a special session on the second day. There was a special session dealing with parent-child relationship, slavery to web, stress management, counselling etc. The Law awareness seminar handled topics such as religion, democracy and freedom, secularism and Indian Constitution, minority rights, cyber law and cyber crimes, Islamic criminal law etc. The media debate opened discussions on the blossoming hopes of alternative media, commercializing media culture, investigative journalism, pros and cons of audio-visual media etc. There were IT workshop, leadership workshop, creativity club, intellectual assembly, sargavicharam journal club etc.

Some special sessions also were held such as the Children’s conference, High School students’ assembly, scholar students’ conference, women students’ conference, national delegates’ meet, research students’ conclave, foreign students’ gathering, island students’ meet, NRI parents’ commune, Girls guild and the educational trainees’ meet.
