Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood not to nominate presidency candidate

Cairo, Feb 5, IRNA – IRNA correspondent here quoted dispatches as reporting Egypt’s Islamic Brotherhood says it will have no candidates for upcoming September presidential election.

According to the report, a spokesman of “Ekhwan ul-Muslimin”, Muhammad al-Biltaji announced Friday in a videoconference interview with Al-Jazeera TV, “We had earlier announced we have no ambition for achieving the presidency post, or any other posts in a coalition government.”
The embattled Mubarak Government has many times claimed that the Islamic Brotherhood members have been among the demonstrators as of January 25th, aimed at putting an end to President Mubarak’s 30 year rule.

Beltaji added, “The state officials have invited the Islamic Brotherhood to enter talks with the government aimed at talks on political reforms, promising official recognition of the Ikhwan ul-Muslimin’s legitimacy.
