New Delhi : Goa's opposition legislators, who are currently in the capital, seemed to be clueless about their future course of action as they had not even sought a fresh appointment with President Pratibha Patil.
Some legislators of the opposition Goa Democratic Alliance (GDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had arrived here Tuesday to meet Patil and urge the dismissal of the Congress-led government in the state.
Till Wednesday afternoon they had not even met any senior BJP or National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders, said BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat Monday won a vote of confidence through a voice vote, which the opposition objected to and walked out of the assembly protesting Speaker Pratapsing Rane's decision of restraining three legislators from voting.
The GDA described the speaker's action as unconstitutional and illegal.
Rudy was also not clear whether they planned to go to court over the issue.
Instead of a BJP leader, the alliance has this time appointed Anil Salgaoncar, an independent legislator and a noted industrialist, as chairman of the GDA and asked him to head the charge.
"The GDA chairman has written to the president and Home Minister Shivraj Patil to present their case," the BJP spokesman said.
Rudy added: "We are asking all legal and constitutional bodies to count our numbers. We are trying to prove on all fronts that the GDA had a majority yesterday, today and tomorrow."
