The talks this time will detail the formation and agenda of the tripartite US-Iranian-Iraqi security committee, Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted Qomi as saying.

The proposed committee, which will consist of security experts from the three countries, is tasked with stabilizing the security situations in neighbouring Iraq, he said.

Given the progress made in the previous rounds of talks, the Iraqi leaders are greatly optimistic about the results of the coming talks.

“The Iraqi side asked us to participate effectively in the third round of talks,” Qomi pointed out.

He renewed Iran’s support for the Iraqi government.

Qomi and US Ambassador to Iraqi Ryan Crocker agreed in July in the presence of Iraqi representatives to set up the tripartite committee.
