Jammu/Srinagar : Considering a sudden spurt in militant activities, Police and other security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir this time are taking extra measures to check any attempt by the militant organizations to disrupt the Independence Day celebrations.
Sources in Police told News Agency of Kashmir that close surveillance is being put in place in advance at all the venues identified for ID celebrations across the state.
Police has already taken over the control of Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, the venue for the main function, while similar arrangements have been made in Winter Capital as well.
Huge deployment on all important crossings has been made in the twin capital cities, while directions have been issued for strict checking of vehicles entering the two important urban centers.
Besides resorting to huge deployment, thrust is also being laid on intelligence based arrangements for maintaining a close track of the subversive elements, sources said.
While additional check points have been put in place across the Valley, the people in sensitive areas have started restricting their movement to avoid frequent checking at the check points.
Police has also fitted close Circuit Cameras at all important crossings to check suspicious movement at the VIP locations and around the venues of Independence Day celebrations.
“The main focus is being laid on the venerable places, especially the venue for the celebrations by increasing checking and frisking of Vehicles and Pedestrians”, a senior Police officer told News Agency of Kashmir.
