Phulwari Sharif (Patna): Amir-e-Shariat Maulana Syed Nizamuddin urged Bihar government to accelerate their flood relief work while talking to TwoCircles.net after a press conference organized by Imarat-e-Shariah, Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa in its Patna head quarter.

He said that the flood situation in Bihar is grim. Every where there is a fear and panic in the people, they have lost everything they had, they have nothing to eat and little to survive. Lakhs of residents have become homeless and forced to stay under the open sky. Almost all dams are damaged or broken. More than two hundred people are infected with different water born diseases. Diarrhea, Cholera will spread very rapidly due to scorching sun rays.

Amir-e-Shariat said that the situation will become more dangerous and uncontrolled if the victims are not provided medical aid in time. “The survivors urgently need relief on the basis of humanity. Relief work from central and state governments should be carried out on war footing”, he stated.

“The Chief Minister must put his sincere effort in relief work and he should ensure the distribution of relief commodities among the victims, handing over a particular district to army is not the solution of problem, it should be monitored that relief items are reaching properly to the needy people or not,” he said to TwoCircles.net.

He informed that presently the Government has 4 hundred crore rupees set aside for disaster. The Government must invest this amount in relief work. The Government should engage honest officers.

He claimed that floods spreads destruction every year in Bihar but none of the safety measures or preventive work is taken by the Government before the natural calamity. Every year, the Government makes statement that they are prepared to face the flood and when the time comes it shows its unprepared ness and unwillingness to help ordinary citizens.

He demanded the Government to take permanent precautionary measure, to minimize the losses, before flood.

He told that Imarat-e-Shariah is helping the affected people, on its level. Its relief teams are working actively in Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur districts. These teams are providing the victims with food and other essential items like cloths and medicines but the destruction caused by the flood is on such a high scale that huge amount is needed.

He appealed to the people of all communities to come forward with open heart to help the humanity not a particular religion. He added that people can send money for help in the form of cash, bank draft and cheques and assured that this will reach to the needy persons through Imarat-e-Shariah. The draft or cheques should be made out to Baitulmal, Imarat-e-Shariah, Patna and send it to Nazim Imarat-e-Shariah, Phulwari Sharif, Patna -801505 Bihar, India.

Established in 1921, Imarat Shariah is active in Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa for education, technical training, relief work and darul qazas.
